Rating Scale


After Part II has been completed, and all students have contributed their research on their respective companies, you can begin to evaluate and benchmark your company’s performance relative to other in the sector.

Zumer uses a nine point scale. This is a likert scale with 5 being the industry average or status quo. Use a 5 as your starting point for average performance and adjust as performance increases or decreases.

One thing to keep in mind is that in order to make a valid ratings, you must be familiar with all companies in the footwear and apparel sectors.

Nine Point Scale
0 – Data not available
1 – Worst performer in sector
2 – Negative (Evidence of scandals that exhibit reckless corporate behavior)
3 – Poor
4 – Below average (Company has implemented policy but vague or no performance data provided)
5 – Industry average
6 – Above average
7 – Good
8 – Excellent (Demonstrating innovation and leadership within sector)
9 – Best performer in sector
