Patagonia has launched their very own interactive site called the Footprint Chronicles, which tracks the effects of specific Patagonia products from their concept design beginnings to final distribution and delivery. It allows the detailed investigation of three of their new products: Quilt Again Jacket, Nano Puff™ Pullover, and Rain Shadow Jacket. It provides details such as the distance the product traveled, energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, waste generated, and water consumption.
Nearly every product page featured on the Patagonia site contains the Footprint Chronicles feature, showing in detail the product’s sourcing and environmental impacts. Containing portions in the product description entitled “The Good” and “The Bad,” Patagonia maintains transparency in its affairs. Also, the page displays safe use and disposal information.
